Woodlice
You need to know…
- Woodlice need moisture because they rapidly lose water by excretion and through their cuticle, and so are usually found in damp, dark places, such as under rocks and logs.
- They are usually nocturnal and are detritivores, feeding mostly on dead plant matter, although they have been known to feed on cultivated plants, such as ripening strawberries and tender seedlings.
- Woodlice may damage young plants.

Springtail
You need to know…
- Most species have an abdominal, tail-like appendage, that is folded beneath the body to be used for jumping when the animal is threatened.
- They are normally less than 6 millimeters long, have six or fewer abdominal segments and possess a tubular appendage.
- Springtails are well known as pests of some agricultural crops.
- More often, claims of persistent human skin infection by springtails may indicate a neurological problem.

Plaster Beetle
You need to know…
- They are small reddish or black beetles often found weakly flying in homes during late summer. Plaster Beetles are from 1.5- 2.5 mm in length with ridged, wide wingcases.
- Plaster beetles feed on mould or mildews and are attracted to anything that is musty smelling with newly constructed homes, damp areas in basements, bathrooms and damp commodities (such as grain), often affected. Eggs are laid singly and take approximately 5 weeks to complete the lifecycle.
- Insecticidal treatments may not provide a total solution against this pest.
